On the Causes and Countermeasures of Chinese Learners’ English Reading Anxiety

Based on Humanistic Psychology and Krashen’s Affective Filtering Hypothesis, this study explores the effects English reading anxiety among Chinese students, corresponding countermeasures are put forward to it. anxiety, one of emotional factors that have a great effect foreign language learning, mainly refers feeling not being able achieve desired goal or overcome mental obstacle. The results indicate learners suffer in text comprehension, psychological, cultural main causes leading upon findings, its advisable lower learners’ affective filter promote their self-confidence as well cultivate cross-cultural awareness future teaching.
